Normal Township operates a 40,000 square feet Activity and Recreation Center (ARC) for adults age 55 and over. With over 3,600 members and more than 90 different programs on offer each month, the center is an exciting atmosphere where people can improve their physical and social well-being while meeting new people and trying new hobbies.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance and operations of our facilities. The Facilities Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of all building systems, managing custodial staff, and coordinating facility projects. This is a full-time position with competitive pay.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee building and grounds maintenance for Township Hall and Township's Activity and Recreation Center.
- Manage and supervise a team of custodial staff, including assigning tasks, providing training, and evaluating performance
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures to ensure the proper functioning of all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical
- Coordinate and oversee facility projects, such as renovations or equipment installations
- Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and address them promptly
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment inventory, and maintenance schedules
- Collaborate with external contractors and vendors to obtain quotes for repairs or services
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment for staff and visitors
- Develop and manage the facilities budget, including tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in facilities management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
- Proven experience in facilities management or a similar role
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, and general building maintenance
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in English (both written and verbal)
- Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to fabricate solutions when necessary
- Experience in supervising staff
- Knowledge of maintenance management software is a plus
